South Trafford Hosts It’s 2nd Crowdfunding Event – Join us at the next Detroit Soup Event – Thursday 28th January 2016

Detroit Soup Event - An Evening for Local People to Come Together to Share Ideas, Raise Funds and Collaborate to Benefit the South Trafford Community

What is Detroit Soup?
Detroit SOUP is a crowdfunding event that brings people together to raise money and provides support for community projects. Attendees make a suggested donation of £10 and listen to four people sharing their idea for helping their local community—anything from cleaning up a park, to running an after-school program, to starting a small business.
Over soup and entertainment, attendees connect, ask questions, share ideas, offer support, resources - or even step-up and get involved! Every proposed idea will go away with support of some kind. The most popular idea will also leave with the door donations to help their project on its way. So the more people through the door the more money raised for the most popular project idea, for example 30 people through the door x £10 =£300, 60 people x £10 = £600, more attendees = more funds!!
We ask that the person with the chosen idea comes back at a future SOUP to report on the progress of their project.

Detroit SOUP is a community experiment. It’s about coming together to eat and find new connections and ways of improving where we live. It’s also about raising micro-funding for projects.
The winning bid from South Trafford's first 'Detroit Soup'came from Intergen Trafford, with their vision to address isolation and depression amongst older South Trafford citizens and help local children learn new skills. Their bid secured them the very impressive £440 evening’s audience takings.

Celebrating the win, Intergen’s Sue Mosco said: “We are delighted to win this money, which will enable us to have a Grand Recruitment Happening. Through this we will be able to increase the number of over 50s volunteers in South Trafford schools, seeing the students benefiting from extra adult support. I’d say this is a ‘win-win’ situation for the local area.
I would like to extend huge thanks to the organisers of what was such a fun, friendly evening.”

After the success of the first South Trafford Detroit Soup where Intergen won £440 for their Intergenerational project we wanted to continue the positive momentum of this community crowdfunding event by giving more budding social entrepreneurs the chance to win the money raised on the night.
So Come share your idea, hear others ideas, and see what happens. If you don’t get the money, you may still find all kinds of other benefits – people with ideas to share – new volunteers, a great experience.
