Inclusive Growth Board (IGB)
The Inclusive Growth Board provides strategic leadership in the delivery of key priorities which reflect the Greater Manchester Strategy, the Northern Powerhouse agenda and Trafford’s Economic and Housing Growth Framework. The Board has 12 members, from across private and public sectors.
The Board oversees two thematic partnerships which help deliver against these priorities. These partnerships are the Strategic Housing Partnership and Trafford Employment Skills and Enterprise Group, with an additional group which deals solely with the construction industries. Board members are updated on progress at each board meeting.
The IGB has a number of priorities across Trafford including:
• Increasing responsible employment and raising skill levels
• Providing support the availability of finance for business growth
• Encouraging inward investment
• Developing the culture, leisure & tourism offer in Trafford
• The spatial growth in housing and commercial
• Improving the future infrastructure of transport, road networks and broadband
• Strategic planning and sharing best practice
• Helping to reduce poverty across the borough.

The IGB meets every three months, the latest meeting took place on 10th May 2019, as well as standard updates from the Strategic Housing Partnership and the Trafford Employment and Skills and Enterprise the board were presented with information about the following two topics.
At the 10th May 2019 meeting the Board heard from Ian McCavery the Community Officer for the Partington area. Ian gave a detailed explanation of the work taking place in Partington, which is known as Vision 31 and the exceptional commitment from the partners involved. Vision 31 will see the redevelopment of Partington including new housing, development of existing properties, development of nature trails and transport links.
Dr Peter Davey, a member of Trafford’s Public Health team attended the Board meeting to talk about his work on developing a poverty strategy. Dr Davey explained that in Trafford average statistic point to prosperous borough, as 14.3% of children in Trafford aged 1-15 live in deprived households, compared to the English average of 19.9%. However this average masks deeply entrenched and wide inequalities. That same measure applied to Timperley ward is 4.3%. Applied to Bucklow St Martins it is 39%. In order to try and reduce the levels of poverty in some areas of Trafford a group of Council Officers are working with Dr Davey to develop a strategy. The IGB will be updated on progress at each meeting.
