What is Social Value?

The VCSE sector can play a powerful role in delivering local services and in transforming the service landscape bringing innovation, value for money and social benefits.

The Public Services (Social Value) Act 2012 came into force on 31st January 2013, and now places an additional duty on local authorities to secure greater evidence of Social Value when commissioning services. This is advantageous to those VCSE sector organisations in Trafford that are delivering locally and providing social, economic and environmental wellbeing as a lot of the services delivered by the VCSE sector naturally meets Social Values aims.

Thrive Trafford is keen to support groups in demonstrating their Social Value and is working with Trafford Council, Trafford Partnership and other partners to help ensure that a cross Borough and consistent approach is developed to measuring Social Value and that the role of the VCSE sector in achieving this is recognised.
